Dr. Julie Ebert is the owner and managing veterinarian at Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital. She is a North Central Kansas native and grew up near Wakefield. Dr. Julie graduated from Kansas State University in 1996 and she has enjoyed practicing small animal medicine in both Manhattan and Junction City. Dr. Ebert has special interests in small animal internal medicine,  soft tissue surgery, behavioral medicine as well as exotic animal medicine and surgery.  She and her husband Chris, have 3 adult children: Austin, Emily and Adam and 2 grandchildren.  Her family's pets include a lab mix named, Buddy, a DSH cat named Bandit, and 4 horses- Scanner, Mo, Chance and Barbie.  Dr. Ebert also enjoys her personal cow /calf operation.  We would love to have you join our pet care family at Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital.


Valeria Van DerdysValeria Van Derdys, DVM, MPH

Dr. Valeria became a staff member at Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital in the summer of 2023 and is accepting new clients / patients. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico (Cayey) with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2017. She then continued her education and earned a Master of Public Health with a focus on Infectious Diseases and Zoonosis from Virginia Tech in 2019. In May of 2023, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine after completing her clinical year at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Valeria has a particular interest in internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology and ophthalmology. She enjoys furthering her knowledge in those areas whenever possible. Dr. Valeria and her partner have a small family currently, which includes two rescue dogs from the beautiful island of St. Kitt's, Phillip and Leo. Their latest addition is Aura, an Irish setter puppy. Having been born and raised in Puerto Rico, her hobbies include spending time on beaches and rivers. Here in Kansas Dr. Valeria enjoys seeking out good restaurants, hiking, working out and spending time with her family. Dr. Valeria is fluent in two languages : English and Spanish! Melody WinkelMelody Winkel

Melody has lived in Kansas since she was three years old. She is currently working towards her veterinary technician degree. After graduating from that degree, she plans on working towards becoming a marine/aquatic veterinary technician or receiving a marine biology degree. She has a cat, two dogs, and five freshwater fish. She can’t wait to be a part of you and your pet’s life.


Sarah BrownSarah Brown

Sarah was born and raised in Wichita, KS and recently moved to Junction City to be with her partner. Together they have a dog and two cats that are loved very much. Sarah has been in animal care for the past 4 years and in veterinary medicine for 2 years. Animals are and have always been her passion from the 8 legged, to scaly, and flurry varieties. She will give your fur family member the best care and all the treats and cuddles they can handle.


Destiny GarciaDestiny Garcia

Destiny moved to Kansas 7 years ago and has now made Kansas her permanent home. She attended the Animal Behavior College, receiving her Veterinary Assistant Certification. She owes her love of animals to her experiences with her own pets, which include cats, reptiles and fish. She can't wait to see your pets and meet all of the FHVH clients.


Edyn GriffinEdyn Griffin

Hello, my name is Edyn and I am a senior at Junction City High School. I am currently doing a student internship program at Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital. Being a part of our Future Famers of America (FFA) and a proud cheerleader for our football team are a few of my passions along with providing love and care to all of the boarders here at Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital. I hope to pursue a career in veterinary medicine after high school.


Meg N. Pietri-LugoMeg N. Pietri-Lugo, RVT

Meg was born and raised in Puerto Rico and now has moved to Junction City, Kansas with her husband who works at Fort Riley. She studied at the University of Puerto Rico Arecibo Campus, where she obtained her Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology. Meg enjoys walking outside with her dogs and bakes pet friendly treats. Please welcome Meg to Kansas and let her know it does not get that cold!! Meg is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.


Kristopher ShattoKristopher Shatto, RVT

Kristopher was born and raised in Abilene, Kansas. He attended Colby Community College and receive an Associate's degree in Veterinary Nursing and is also a Registered Veterinary Technician. In his free time, he enjoys attending KSU sporting events and taking his dogs on hikes and walks. He owes his passion for veterinary medicine to his early childhood pets, RJ and Duke. Kristopher enjoys helping pets live longer and healthier lives. He looks forward to meeting you and helping all pets lead happy healthy lives.
